FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT ALABAMA NSA GIRLS FASTPITCH LEAGUE

  • How much will it cost my park to participate in the Alabama NSA Girls Fastpitch League?
    • No cost to the League.
    • Teams must sanction however, the cost is $20.00 per team
    • Teams can sanction online at www.playnsa.com. (It is called online registration on the website). Area Directors can assist you in this process.
  • Where and how can my park get insurance coverage?
    • As with all other Softball Associations, insurance is required.
    • Specific requirements can be found at www.playnsa.com.
    • If your league purchases team and park insurance through the Official NSA insurance provider your league officers and directors will be covered at no additional charge.
    • Forms are available on www.playnsa.com.
    • Your park can get insurance from any provider you wish, provided it covers the minimum amount of coverage required for NSA.
  • How will the Alabama NSA Girls Fastpitch League be set up?
    • Sanction each team in your league with NSA, cost is $20.00 per team
    • Teams can sanction online at www.playnsa.com. (This is called online registration on the website). Area Directors can assist you in this process.
    • Each park will play a regular season under NSA Rules, with NSA sanctioned umpires.
    • A player must participate in a minimum of 8 official NSA sanctioned league games to be eligible to participate in All-Stars. (see Guidelines for specific rules concerning eligibility)
    • The State of Alabama will be divided into four (4) Areas
    • Northern
    • North Central
    • South Central
    • Southern
  • On the weekend of May 19, 20, 21 there will be a League State Tournament. This Tournament will be open to NSA League teams only, no pick-up players and no All-star teams. Cost will be $50.00 per team. Gate fee will be $5.00 per day or $10.00 for a tournament pass. Children 12 and under will be admitted for free.
    • On May 31st there will be a Sanction Meeting to verify All-star Rosters and Tournaments
    • During the 1st and 2nd weekend in June there will be open tournaments (Open only to NSA sanctioned park All-Star teams) [Pre-Area Tournament]
    • The cost, per team, will be $150.00. This will cover game balls, umpires, and awards cost.
    • Gate fee will be $5.00 per day or $10.00 for a tournament pass. Children 12 and under will be admitted for free.
    • A portion (1/2) of the gate fee will be given to NSA to help defray the cost of the Alabama All-Star Championship Tournament.
    • Every Park/League that sanctions with the Alabama NSA REC League will have an opportunity to host a Pre-Area and Area and/or Championship Tournament. (these are great fundraisers)
    • On the 3rd weekend in June Area Tournaments will be held at various locations.
    • The top 4 finishers in each age group will advance to the Alabama All-Star Championship Tournament.
    • The cost, per team, will be $160.00, this will cover game balls, umpires, and awards cost.
    • Gate fee will be $5.00 per day or $10.00 for a tournament pass. Children 12 and under will be admitted for free.
    • A portion (1/2) of the gate fee will be given to NSA to help defray the cost of the Alabama All-Star Championship Tournament.
    • On the last weekend in June the Alabama All-Star Championship Tournament will be held at various locations.
    • There will be no entry fee for this tournament
    • Gate fee will be $5.00 per day or $10.00 for a tournament pass. Children 12 and under will be admitted for free.
  • Will our Park/League be able to institute our own "Park Rules"?
  • Yes as long as the do not directly conflict with the NSA Rule Book.
  • All-Star Tournament play will be played under the NSA Rule Book
  • How do we get Umpires?
  • Jeff Madaris is the Alabama NSA State UIC. Jeff will certify your head umpire and then your head umpire can go back and certify the rest of the park umpires.
