National
Softball Association Girls Fastpitch League
Guidelines
- League must play by 2008 NSA
Rule Book during the regular season, with the exception of any "LOCAL
LEAGUE" Rules.
- League must play a minimum of
a 12 game season.
- The number of All-Star teams
a park must choose, per age group, will be determined by the
following formula:
o
1 to 6 teams, per age group One (1) All-Star
team
o
7 to 12 teams, per age group Two (2) all-Star
teams
o
13 to 18 team, per age group Three (3)
All-Star teams. And so on
.
Example: A park
has 5 teams in the 8U division, they would form one
(1) All-Star team. Another park has 9 teams in 8U, they would form two (2)
All-Star team.
Note: If a
park meets the requirement to have multiple All-Star teams and does not have
enough girls to do so, then the park may have put together as many as possible.
(This must be done with the approval of the Area Director.)
- All-Star players must have
played in at least 8 of the scheduled games prior to June 1st,
2008.
NOTE: Parks that have girls playing on High School
and/or Middle School teams may waive the "One Pre-Area Tournament
Requirement". They may go straight to the Area Tournament. (This should
apply to 12U/14U/16U & 18U). These teams may be announced no later than
seven (7) days prior to the Area Tournament.
NOTE: The League State Tournament may be used to help
satisfy the 8 game rule, only for girls that can
verify that they were playing school ball and could not reasonably meet the 8
game requirement in time for the Area Tournament. This decision will be made by
the Area Director.
- Teams will consist of a
minimum of 11 and a maximum of 20 players.
NOTE: A park may have less than 11 players only with the
approval of the NSA Youth State Director.
- All-Star teams must
participate in at least one (1) Pre-Area Tournament, plus the Area
Tournament to qualify for the "ALABAMA ALL-STAR CHAMPIONSHIP
TOURNAMENT".
NOTE: Parks that have girls playing on High School
and/or Middle School teams may waive the "One Pre-Area Tournament
Requirement". They may go straight to the Area Tournament. (this should apply to 12U/14U/16U & 18U)
- The top four (4) finishers in
each age division from each Area Tournament will advance to the
"ALABAMA ALL-STAR CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT".
- Teams that do not qualify
for the Alabama All-Star Tournament will have the opportunity to
participate in a BEST OF THE REST
Tournament to take place the same weekend as the Alabama All-Star
Tournament.
- First Place in each age
division will get a paid berth to the Alabama NSA "B" State
tournament.
RULE CHANGES 8/2005
- Make double first base mandatory
- If a park hosts a tournament; any baseball mounds
should be cut down level with the playing surface
- Make the Area and All-Star Championship
Tournament a 3 game format, no pool play.
- ALL-Star teams must
have the name of their Park/League on the front of their jersey. (ex: 31
North or Tarrant on the front of the jersey)
(Executive Order 1/2006)
- To qualify for all
stars a player must have played the 8 game minimum in the age division she
will be representing. UNLESS THEIR AGE GROUP IS NOT OFFERED AT THIER PARK.
Example a player that is 10 years of age but played in the 12& under
division would not be eligible to play as a 10 & under during all star
play. She would be eligible for the 12 & under all-star team.
***ALABAMA NSA STRONGLY RECOMMENDS THAT EVERY GIRL ON EACH ALL-STAR TEAM PLAY IN EVERY ALL-STAR GAME.***
